Job Title:
Research Health Economist The Research Health Economist performs advanced statistical analyses and economic modeling to evaluate the economic and clinical impact of operational and clinical decisions. This role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement health economic strategies that support key business and research objectives. The position involves developing health economic models, conducting outcomes research, and communicating findings through high-quality scientific outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and grant proposals. Responsibilities Perform statistical analyses and economic modeling using appropriate software to assess the economic impact of operational decisions and the clinical impact of interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal departments to design, develop, and implement health economic strategies that support organizational and research objectives. Develop and build health economic models, including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, and budget impact models, for a variety of assigned projects. Conduct statistical analyses of outcomes data, including meta-analyses, mixed treatment comparisons, and survival analyses. Manipulate large and complex datasets, develop algorithms, and create analytic files necessary to support current and future analyses. Provide high-quality, innovative, and timely scientific and strategic solutions that meet defined research objectives and project goals. Prepare, draft, edit, and deliver medical and scientific communications, including reports, summaries, and documentation, in a timely manner. Communicate research findings externally through abstracts, posters, podium presentations, and manuscripts for scientific meetings and peer-reviewed journals. Write select grant proposals and lead awarded studies of high complexity, ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables. Stay current with new techniques, methodologies, and software relevant to health economics and outcomes research. Adhere to project timelines through efficient planning of time and resources and proactively manage competing priorities. Collaborate effectively as part of a team while also working independently to drive projects to completion. Engage with leaders and front-line staff to present findings, explain methods, and support decision-making with clear, data-driven insights. Essential Skills Extensive knowledge of the U.S. health care system, including Medicare and/or Medicaid. Strong analytical, qualitative, and quantitative abilities. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills for conveying problems, methods, and results. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Self-motivation and a strong interest in data-driven health policy analysis. Strong commitment to ongoing professional development. Excellent scientific writing skills, including preparation of manuscripts, protocols, and reports. Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills for engaging with both leadership and front-line staff. Ability to adhere to and meet project timelines through efficient time and resource planning. Availability for occasional travel, as well as evening and weekend work when required by project needs. Deep understanding of retrospective and prospective observational study designs and related methodologies. Solid grounding in disease epidemiology, including incidence, prevalence, risk factors, natural history, comorbidities, treatment patterns, and clinical outcome measures. Experience in applied economics demonstrated through analyses of health care claims, medical records, and enrollment data. Experience working on complex studies in health economics or outcomes research. Experience writing successful scientific protocols. Experience with statistics and programming using statistical packages such as SAS or SPSS. Record of peer-reviewed journal publications. Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. Doctorate (PhD) in Economics, Public Health, Health Policy, Public Policy, Statistics, or another relevant field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated leadership capabilities in driving research projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Background or strong interest in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders. Interest in contributing to data-driven health policy and decision-making through rigorous research. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high scientific and analytical standards. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Orlando, FL.
