Job Description

Over the years, Shield HealthCare has expanded nationally with current service locations in California, Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, Texas and Washington. Shield HealthCare is looking for a Government Affairs Summer Intern in our Valencia, CA corporate office to support the organization's legislative, regulatory, and policy priorities at the state and federal levels. The intern will gain hands on experience in government relations, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis related to the healthcare field and the distribution of healthcare products. This is an on-site position in Valencia, CA
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in addressing internal and external audits, gathering required documentation and preparing responses. Partners with internal departments, gathering information to support internal and external audits. Reviews audit processes for compliance and meeting current standards. Support claim reviews to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Monitor and track state and federal legislation, regulatory actions, and policy developments relevant to the organization. Conduct research and analysis on healthcare policy, regulatory changes, and industry trends, summarizing findings, preparing materials for internal and external stakeholders, and reporting findings. Support preparation of policy briefs, summary reports, and internal communications for leadership. Assist in creating templates to draft letters, position statements, and comment submissions to regulatory agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in business administration, health policy, public health, healthcare administration, legal studies, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret data and identify inconsistencies. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing business needs.
SALARY:
$18.47/hour
