$21.85 -$23.89 About New York State Executive Chamber The New York State Executive Chamber works to meet the needs of all New Yorkers by advancing the Governor's policy initiatives and agenda, as well as overseeing government operations. We coordinate with state agencies, federal and local governments, and community stakeholders to address issues and develop strategies to serve the people of New York State. Working in the Executive Chamber is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of New York and make a significant difference in the lives of millions of New Yorkers. About the Role The Governor's Western New York (WNY) Office is seeking a motivated and analytical Summer Intern to support regional operations and state-level initiatives. This role offers a unique look into regional governance, focusing on tracking state investments, legislative research, and community engagement. The intern will play a key role in documenting the impact of the Governor's agenda within the WNY region, particularly regarding revitalization efforts in East Buffalo.
Responsibilities Investment Tracking:
Assist with the compilation and record-keeping of State investments in the WNY region, with a primary focus on East Buffalo projects.
Legislative Research:
Conduct research and provide detailed reporting on New York State legislation.
Funding Analysis:
Research available state funding sources and prepare reports on findings for the regional team.
Meeting Support:
Attend meetings and conferences with the WNY team and prepare concise summary notes and takeaways.
Database Management:
Collaborate with team members to update departmental contacts and databases while gaining familiarity with various agency procedures.
Event Staffing:
Provide operational support and staff regional events featuring State Commissioners and the Governor.
Required Skills Analytical Research:
Ability to navigate state databases and legislative documents to extract and summarize relevant data.
Communication:
Strong written and oral communication skills for preparing briefing notes and reports.
Technical Proficiency:
Must be comfortable working with databases and standard office software (Google Workspace/Microsoft Office).
Adaptability:
Ability to handle diverse tasks ranging from data entry to high-level event staffing in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications Residency:
Must either be a New York State resident OR be enrolled in a college or university located in New York State.
Local Focus:
A strong interest in or knowledge of the Western New York region and its specific policy needs.
