The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is seeking a Government Affairs Research Manager - a unique role that sits at the intersection of advocacy, legislation, and public policy. As the Government Affairs Research Manager, you'll play a key role in advancing ARRT's mission by conducting in-depth research, analyzing legislative and regulatory trends, and providing strategic insights to help shape our organizational impact. The Government Affairs Research Manager provides comprehensive policy research, legislative monitoring, and impact analysis to inform and strengthen the organization's government affairs strategy. Serving as the department's primary resource for legislative intelligence and emerging policy trends, this role evaluates federal and state initiatives, regulations, and proposals that may affect registrants and patient care. The insights gathered support advocacy planning, help advance favorable legislative efforts, and inform responses to proposals that could negatively impact the profession or public safety. By delivering accurate, data-driven information, the Government Affairs Research Manager enables informed decision-making, supports compliance with relevant standards, and contributes to maintaining the highest levels of quality in medical imaging and radiation therapy.
General Government and Legislative Affairs Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Government Affairs team by monitoring legislation/regulation by utilizing a variety of tools. Collect data related to legislative proposals, policies, laws, and government decisions and support the analysis of their actual or potential impacts on
ARRT, ARRT
registrants, the medical imaging/therapy professions, patients, and the broader sector. Follow relevant policy issues important to the sector statewide and nationally. Identify emerging trends and early warning signals with potential impacts to ARRT. Provide content to be used for meetings and other communications on policy issues or actions. Contribute to strategic thinking about issues that ARRT should advocate for. Possess an overall understanding of the agreements between ARRT and state entities to watch for possible legislative issues that will impact these agreements. Maintain legislative intelligence tools and tracking systems. Attend relevant legislative/regulatory hearings, as needed, and attend and assist with meetings. Participate in ARRT internal committees or projects. Participate in professional development activities to support professional growth. May represent ARRT at national conferences, seminars, and internal organization meetings. Minimal travel is required; less than 10%. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field Two plus years of relevant experience such as research, public policy, or advocacy ARRT certified and registered technologist
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in legislative research and report writing General knowledge of government advocacy
Skills and Abilities :
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information clearly to a range of audiences, particularly non-expert audiences. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and adaptability. Proficiency with the Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize, coordinate, track, and complete multiple tasks, adjust to changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Policy analysis and research skills. Compiling, evaluating, and presenting legislative information skills. Ability to analyze issues, work under pressure, meet close deadlines, and communicate effectively. Ability to work as part of a team and independently under general supervision and manage own time effectively. Pursue, develop, and maintain external relationships that benefit ARRT and its programs.
