Job Description

SMPPH Postdoctoral Fellow University of California Riverside SMPPH PostdoctoralFellow The Department of Social Medicine, Population, and Public Health at the University of California, RiversideSchool of Medicine is seeking an emerging scholar for a postdoctoral position under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Subica. For thisposition, we are seeking a highly-motivated candidate to support a NIAAA-funded study to conduct a randomized controlled trial of a novelalcohol prevention intervention for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander young adults. The scholar will have direct responsibility incoordinating the study, including supporting Dr.
Subica and his team in:
maintaining in-person and virtual collaboration and communicationwith community partners; assisting in intervention-related trainings and intervention delivery; monitoring outreach and recruitmentprotocols; conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis; developing study designs; and scholarly disseminationwithin both community and scientific forums. We particularly seek candidates with applied research skills, strong oral and writtencommunication skills, and the ability to work independently in partnering with community groups and stakeholders to collect and analyzedata, maintain strong community working relationships, and prepare articles for publication. The postdoctoral scholar will receivementorship, supervision, and training from Dr. Subica in establishing a successful independent research career including preparing andsubmitting peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and extramural grants as principal, co-principal, or co-investigator. Individualsinterested in health disparities, community-based participatory research, or Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, Indigenous, or otherminority/underserved populations are especially encouraged to apply.
Desired Education/Experience:
Ph.D. in publichealth, psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field Proficiency or interest in community-based participatory research,intervention trials research, and planning research projects Ability to work independently in completing administrative andcommunity-oriented tasks necessary to complete community-based research projects High level of organizational and communicationskills Ability to work effectively with members of underserved, Indigenous, or minority groups Experience preparingand submitting reports and manuscripts for submission to funders and peer-reviewed journals.
