Specifically, this role will oversee the day-to-day activities of a research project examining the social and neural pathways linking parental anxiety with children's daily emotions. The Laboratory Research Specialist will work as part of a team comprising graduate students and undergraduate research assistants and will coordinate the lab's daily operations. Major responsibilities will include working with the lab director to (a) recruit participants by establishing partnerships with local communities and organizing recruitment events; (b) collect and process electrophysiological (e.g., EEG, ECG), behavioral, and questionnaire and smart-phone Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) data; (c) supervise undergraduate research assistants; and (d) help develop lab and project protocols and manage IRB protocols, along with other administrative duties. The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, a high degree of independence, meticulous attention to detail, and a demonstrated interest in developmental psychology. The ideal start date for this position is summer 2026. This job requires a two-year commitment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: Bachelor's degree and three years of directly related experience Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with children and families in a research setting. Experience with behavioral and/or electrophysiological (EEG, ECG) data collection. Experience with data collection (e.g., RedCap , Qualtrics, E-prime) and/or data management software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB) Experience with behavioral data coding using software such as Datavyu . Basic or advanced programming skills (e.g., R, MATLAB, Python). Ability to work well as part of a fast-moving team. Experience and a demonstrated interest in developmental science and/or neuroscience research Excellent interpersonal communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with lab members, research participants, and community partners. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to pay rigorous attention to detail Ability to work independently and with other lab members Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Commitment to confidentiality, data security, and ethical research practices Desire to acquire new skills and competencies in a dynamic research atmosphere. Proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).
