Position Overview:
The MIDB is dedicated to fostering the healthy brain function of children across the lifespan with the mission to set and maintain a healthy trajectory for all children toward positive life outcomes through early neurobehavioral and mental health assessment, innovative targeted interventions, informed policy-making, compassionate child-advocacy, and community education. The MIDB's mission of basic and clinical research in the field of neurobehavioral development is supported by multiple cores including: Analytics, the Center for Neurobehavioral Development, Clinic-Research Integration, Community Engagement and Education, Informatics, Neuroimaging, Neuromodulation, TeleOutreach, and Translational. The MIDB Research Professional will assist with research by providing data acquisition and technology support and expertise. The successful candidate will be comfortable learning new technologies and will work with the team of technicians in Center for Neurobehavioral Development to acquire data for MIDB research projects, and provide support for the research center. This position is based on campus. Per UMN policy, work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Research Support & Data Acquisition (75%) Assist with electrophysiologic, biometric, and psychometric testing of developmental populations across multiple projects with varying protocols, timelines, and stakeholder groups. Acquire form and survey data for projects. Maintain study records, databases and accurate data entry. Coordinate longitudinal participant scheduling. Participate in study team meetings and ongoing protocol trainings. Prepare materials for research sessions. Provide administrative support for the research center and other research initiatives as needed. Administrative Duties (20%) Management of CNBD communications (shared inbox, request triage, routing). Oversight of study tracking and monthly reporting processes. Maintain electrophysiological equipment, including routine testing, troubleshooting, inventory tracking, and coordination of repairs and supplies. Coordination with vendors for equipment ordering, maintenance, and repairs. Support for Center-wide initiatives (e.g., audits, reporting, process improvements). Order research supplies as needed. Assist with supervision and direction of student workers. Professional Development (5%) Opportunities to attend colloquia and symposia to learn about contemporary advances in the field of developmental neuroscience. Participation in journal clubs, research forums, and interdisciplinary collaborations to foster intellectual exchange and broaden scientific perspectives. Access to training workshops and seminars in cutting-edge techniques and methodologies relevant to developmental neuroscience research.
