Job Description

Municipal Planner We currently seek a high-caliber Municipal Planner for a direct hire basis within our client's team of experienced professionals in Redding, California. At TRS Staffing Solutions , we connect top talent with leading organizations across the globe. Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering and geosciences consulting firm providing a wide range of services including civil and environmental engineering, geosciences, biological sciences, planning and permitting, surveying, materials testing, and construction management.
Job Overview:
You will help rural communities in northern California with both municipal and private development planning services. As a municipal planner you will provide municipalities with both current and advance planning tasks. You may also support private development, finding a pathway for obtaining successful entitlements for well thought out projects. This role requires people skills for developing agency relationships and keeping track of deadlines for multiple projects in a timely manner.
Job Duties:
Perform geotechnical analysis and studies to assess mitigation options for geohazards (e.g., seismic analysis, karst evaluation). Plan and conduct geotechnical explorations. Design foundations, retaining walls, horizontal directional drills, and slope stability using appropriate calculations. Assist in proposal development and cost/schedule estimation for investigations. Provide direction to technical teams during field inspections. Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure timely project completion. Support Program Manager in design and evaluation of construction documents. Develop design drawings and specifications for construction projects. Review and approve geotechnical designs from external consultants. Evaluate construction design proposals for geotechnical compliance. Assess team performance and identify training needs to meet objectives.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a planning-related field of study from an accredited university or college 4 years of professional planning experience working with a community municipality and/or private clients including planning, technical studies, and design. Working knowledge of CEQA/NEPA and permitting (e.g., local, CDFW, Coastal Commission, Army Corps, RWQCB) Technical writing, QA/QC, grant writing and administration S Strong communication, writing skills and report preparation skills Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving clearance
Skills & Competencies:
Strong municipal planning background Strong research skills and use of agency websites and GIS platforms Client care, expense tracking, and regular communication with clients and regulatory agencies Working knowledge of industry-standard software (Word, Illustrator, PowerPoint and Excel) Willingness and ability to travel to other regions and offices Proficiency with relevant software applications.
