Employee will represent the agency as a planning expert, exercising professional judgment; performing and supporting major transportation decision making; and publicly defending transportation decisions and policies. Employee may be exposed to extreme coordinated deadlines; political pressures; and strong public opinions.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in transportation or urban planning, economic development, and land-use development. Candidate must be able to communicate highly technical information effectively, both orally and in writing and manage multiple projects and activities within multiple phases.
Maintain compliance with state rules, regulations and requirements.
Assure effective operation of grant assistance programs.
Soliciting and evaluating grant applications from transportation providers.
Analyze effect of projects on areas using cost/ benefit analysis.
Review projects for fulfillment of federal and state guidelines.
Research & develops program policies, goals & procedures.
Assist with the development and implementation of annual work plans.
Coordinate and monitor the grant procurement activities.
Compile, analyze and complete reports of key operating and financial data from the state's public transportation systems.
Maintain knowledge and work closely to resolve current issues on public/specialize transportation.
Present relevant transportation information at local, state and national meetings.

What You'll Need for
Extensive knowledge of state and federal transit grant programs.
Working knowledge of State and Federal public transit operations.
Working knowledge of policy making and the legislative process at the federal, state & local level.
Working knowledge of local planning procedures.
Advanced skill in the use of computers and software to include Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to research and solve problems utilizing available resources.
Ability to write and speak effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with local government.
A degree is not required. However, at least 7+ years of experience in Economics, Finance, Legislation, or in Educational/Employment training programs while applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in theLife:
