This position will report directly to the Corridor & Long-Range Planning Coordinator. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the long-range planning process and corridor/multimodal planning projects. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: " Supporting the long-range plan update and transportation performance management program " Researching, collecting, and analyzing transportation data for the satisfactory completion of required studies, reports, plans or other products " Preparing and editing presentations, informational materials, memos, maps and written reports " Participating in discrete planning studies for roadway and transit investments " Support oversight of consultant work, public outreach, and agency coordination activities.
Job Qualifications:
" Knowledge of the principles and practices of urban and regional transportation planning including current literature and recent developments in regional planning. " Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools to analyze regional trends, track key performance measures, and to translate complex research into clear, actionable reports. " Familiarity with livability/sustainability/economic concepts as they apply to transportation system development and design. " Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to the general public.
Desired Qualifications:
" Knowledge of federal metropolitan planning requirements " Knowledge of performance-based planning and/or performance measurement " Experience with community engagement " Understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process The successful candidate for this position will have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university, with major course work in transportation planning, urban and regional planning, public policy, civil engineering, or a closely related field. One (1) year of directly related professional experience or an equivalent combination of directly related education and professional experience is preferred. There is potential for a promotion to a Planner II once the employee meets all qualifications for that level position, is fully trained, and can take over the full responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the performance-based planning program. The salary range for this position begins at $45,602 annually, with actual starting salary based on background and experience.
