Job Description

Operation Analyst IMTT United States, Jersey, Bayonne 250 East 22nd Street (Show on map) Apr 29, 2026 The Operations Analyst supports the Terminal Manager in monitoring and analyzing operational costs and spend, while contributing to a variety of case-by-case projects that drive terminal efficiency and performance. This is an entry-level individual contributor role well-suited for a detail-oriented professional looking to build a career in business analytics while gaining experience in marine terminal and industrial operations. This position is on site at the terminal. Responsibilities Track, analyze, and report on terminal operating costs and spend across key categories, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for savings Prepare recurring cost and performance reports for terminal leadership Enable effective budget management by identifying, analyzing, and explaining forecast and budget variances. Assist the Terminal Manager with projects, including operational analyses, process documentation, vendor comparisons, and special initiatives Gather and organize data from multiple sources to support decision-making Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Maintenance, Engineering and other operational teams to ensure data accuracy and project continuity Present findings and summaries in a clear, concise format for internal stakeholders Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field 0 to 2 years of relevant experience; internship or co-op experience in an industrial or operational setting is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Proficiency in the use of AI and AI powered tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making while safeguarding confidentiality of information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on deadlines Effective written and verbal communication skills Self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, field-adjacent environment TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations. Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, problem solving and organizational skills; attention to detail; flexibility in assignments; and ability to coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines Skills and Abilities Strong business writing, presentation development, and speaking/interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability in learning and mastering analytical software, especially MS Excel Positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment Demonstrated creativity and willingness to challenge the status quo by applying new ideas, technologies, and continuous improvement thinking to solve problems Hours of Work Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is an exempt, salaried position. The role requires flexibility as business needs require. Occasional travel may be necessary. This job operates in a professional office environment but will require frequent visits to industrial field sites requiring the use of basic Personal Protective Equipment typically of what is worn on construction sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
