$15.00 PER
HOUR/32 HOURS PER WEEK
(Monday through Thursday)
DESCRIPTION
The Community Development Internship offers a hands-on opportunity to learn how local government supports the growth, improvement, and long-term sustainability of the community. Interns will work with staff across areas such as planning, project development, code enforcement, and public records, gaining exposure to both public infrastructure (like streets, utilities, and easements) and private development (including buildings and land use). This role includes assisting with documentation processes, learning how development projects are reviewed and approved, and observing or participating in local boards and community groups such as planning commissions and city council meetings. Interns will also gain insight into how city ordinances and state and federal regulations guide development, and how municipalities collaborate with community members to support a safe, functional, and well-planned environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be a part- or full-time student at a college or university. Applicant must have a high school diploma and at least 15 credit hours towards an associate or bachelor's degree. Current transcript required.
