Available Benefits Help for . The Planning Coordinator position is a full-time role reporting directly to the Director of Development Services. The Planner Coordinator will assist the Director in planning & development projects as needed, including drafting reports and attending pre-development meetings. This position performs technical planning duties requiring detailed examination as well as excellent writing, organizational, and presentation skills. This position works under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Development Services. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
This position works under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Development Services. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Typical Duties:
Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Analyzes and evaluates zoning and development proposals by applicable code, ordinances, policies, and design guidelines and presents information to the Director as needed.
Works with zoning and development applicants and their representatives, throughout the review process to ensure deadlines are met.
Maintains open and effective communications with zoning and development applicants, city staff,and the residents of Stephenville.
Assists the Director in developing municipal planning documents and plans, including amendments to the comprehensive plans and development ordinances.
Assist the Director in preparing reports to City Council, Boards, and the public.
Performs advanced professional work related to a variety of planning assignments.
Provides customer service and responds to concerns and inquiries.
Processes zoning change applications, plat applications; prepares public notices and conducts property ownership research.
Assists customers with related planning and development questions, obtaining input from the Building Official or Director when needed. Skills, Knowledge's, and Abilities:
Understand and follow oral and written directions
Possess necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities relative to the position
Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with other employees and the public
Possess operational knowledge with technical devices such as, but not limited to, computers, phones, printers, and tablets
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations, including but not limited to, Texas Local Government Code, ICC building regulations, and city ordinances and regulations
Ability to read, review, and analyze legal descriptions, site plans, and other related planning documents
Knowledge of zoning laws and comprehensive plans including their formation, process of adoption, and implementation
Ability to deal effectively, professionally, and ethically with the public and government officials
Skill in interpreting City codes and ordinances and providing comparative analysis
Organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate in English
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
Be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well organized, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment
Ability to work with limited supervision EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have a valid Texas driver's license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
Class C driver's license
Two (2) years of experience in municipal government and significant experience in plan/plat review, zoning administration, and building code experience
A combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses will be reviewed and considered WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry, and vision to monitor. Licenses and Certifications:
Class C driver's license
American Institute of Certified Planner certification or ability to achieve within one year upon obtaining required qualifying experience. Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
