Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Transportation Planner will evaluate, define, implement, and coordinate travel demand management (TDM) strategies and programs to support the transportation mode shift goals of Teton County and the Town of Jackson, as specified in the Integrated Transportation Plan.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Evaluates and implements best practices for Travel Demand Management and develops implementation strategies, including policy recommendations, perform metrics, program reporting, and coordination of program delivery efforts. Reviews draft plans and memoranda for consistency with Comprehensive Plan and ITP objectives and adopted Land Development Regulations; evaluates applicant submitted TDM monitoring reports for compliance with Master Plan agreements. Collects, warehouses, and analyzes transportation systems data for decision support. Develops and maintains partnerships with consultants, employers, property managers, community organizations, institutions, agencies, and regional partners to support policy compliance, advance TDM best practices, and coordinate efforts that influence travel behavior countywide. Provides courteous customer support for appropriate programs. Delivers or delegates programmatic elements of Pathways programs related to TDM. Ensures TDM program alignment with Teton County climate goals, sustainability programs, and long-range planning efforts through collaboration across departments and divisions, aiming to influence trip choice and travel behaviors within the county. Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or related field 1-3 years of experience in implementing transportation demand management strategies and initiatives tailored to a multi-modal environment is required; 3+ years of experience is preferredRequired Licenses and Certifications:
A valid State driver's license may be required. Ability/desire to obtain Transportation Demand Management Certified Professional (TDM-CP) a plus but not required.Required Knowledge of:
Applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances. Local roadways and geography. Project management principles, practices, and methods. Transportation metrics and best practices. Understanding of Federal transportation funding and grant programs.Required Skills in:
Completing accurate mathematic calculations. Preparing clear and concise reports and other professional documents and correspondence. Following established protocols and procedures. Maintaining accurate records and logs. Interacting tactfully and professionally with County and Town staff, outside agencies, and the public. Working efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Maintaining composure in stressful situations.Work Environment:
