Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a Master's Degree in School Counseling; A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate; At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience; Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe; Such above qualifications as the Board may require.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide an educational atmosphere in which each student will move towards the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals, and objectives. Establishes effective rapport with students. Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student's ability. Provide individual counseling services for students with personal, social, and emotional concerns. Counsel with classrooms and large groups. Strong classroom management techniques. Plan and conduct move-up day in the spring for students into the feeder school. Register and orient new students throughout the school year. Assist in the preparation of teachers' schedules. Plan and conduct College and Career Fair, along with other Anniston City School System counselors and teachers. Foster improved relationships of students with peers and adults. Coordinate ALSDE and district assessments. Interpret test results to students, parents, teachers, and community. Administer and interpret academic aptitude tests. Provide teachers with academic and professional information as requested. Work with students participating in academic projects. Serve as resource person in classroom. Arrange and conduct field trips. Conduct pre-registration in spring. Attend advisory council, faculty, and district meetings regularly. Finalize student schedules for the upcoming school year. Make schedule changes as needed. Maintain permanent record files. Transmit transcripts as required. Demonstrate the personal qualities of loyalty, honesty, accuracy, cheerfulness, good health habits, and pleasing personality. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward work. Have regular, punctual attendance. Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees. Must demonstrate great written and oral communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity are required to perform job responsibilities.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with evaluation procedures and Board policy.
