Job Description

Retired School Counselor Facilitator Reports To:
Director of School Counseling Department:
Department of Student Support Services Terms of Employment Part-time, Temporary, Not Protected by Tenure, or Continuing Service Status (Services may be discontinued or ended at any time, with or without notice, due to funding availability, operational changes, reduction in need, or completion of the designated program or assignment.) Annual Compensation $50.00
Hourly Job Summary:
The Retired School Counselor Facilitator is a retired school counselor who provides mentorship, coaching, and professional support to school counselors across Montgomery Public Schools. The facilitator will support counselors with program implementation, compliance expectations, documentation, organization, and counseling best practices. This position will work between schools based on district needs and serve as an experienced resource to strengthen the effectiveness and consistency of counseling services districtwide.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in School Counseling. Strong knowledge of counseling compliance requirements, professional standards, and school counseling operations. Ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to staff. Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Ability to travel between schools based on district needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Retired Alabama educator with successful experience as a school counselor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coach and mentor new and developing school counselors. Support counselors with counseling program implementation, organization, and professional practices. Monitor counseling compliance requirements, documentation, timelines, and district expectations. Conduct school visits to provide guidance, feedback, and recommendations to counseling staff. Work collaboratively with Student Services and other departmental team members to support counseling operations. Assist counselors with prioritizing responsibilities, managing workloads, and improving efficiency. Complete reports, compliance reviews, summaries, and follow-up documentation.
