Job Description

Imagine Buckeye seeks to hire a K-8 School Counselor to create and oversee systems of support to promote student success by teaching adaptive strategies that help students adjust academically, socially, and emotionally as they navigate the school environment. The School Counselor meets with students in 1:1, small group, and class settings to address social and emotional issues that impact student learning. This position collaborates with teachers and administrators to provide training to faculty and staff based on data from student interventions and evaluation of programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Preventive and Responsive Services Coordinates School Counseling services for students utilizing a variety of delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation/collaboration and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment. Assesses student needs and makes referrals to appropriate school resources and community agencies. Collaborates with school personnel and other related service providers to best meet the needs of all students. Intervenes during crisis/safety situations and participates on the school crisis/safety team. Plans appropriate training relevant to social/ emotional health for faculty, staff and students. Providing students, families and staff referral information for local and community agencies where continued and long term support may be obtained. Development & Management Interprets student data for the purpose of developing and implementing supportive plans for individual students. Collaborates with school administration on the development and management of student services provided by the counseling office. Analyzes current systems of support and develops sustainable systems to serve the student population. Attends meetings, such as faculty meetings, special meetings, and parent-teacher conferences, as needed. 504 Coordination Manages and ensures effective 504 plan implementation for students on the caseload in grades K-8. Develops, writes and helps implement 504 plans. Coordinates the Section 504 referral process. Facilitates evaluation/eligibility determination team meetings for Section 504. Schedules, organizes and conducts annual or bi-annual reviews for each Section 504 students. Maintains accurate and up-to-date data in the school's Learning Management System for Section 504 students. Attends regularly scheduled professional development and Section 504 training meetings. Accountability Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local rules, regulations and laws. Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards. Prepares and submits a variety of requested reports and data at local and state level to ensure fulfillment of established program requirements using all available data, including academic grades, discipline referrals, and attendance data to identify student needs and deliver services. Maintains confidentiality while keeping accurate and complete records Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths Education:
Master's Degree in School Counseling or Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
Certification:
AZ Guidance Counseling K-12
Experience:
Two years of school-based experience preferred. Special Skills Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and site team members. Ability to contribute and participate in the assessment, intervention and documentation process. Proficient in the use of technology.
Additional Requirements Fingerprint clearance:
Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Physical functions:
Requires, but is not limited to, standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.

$53,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
