SUMMARY:
The Student Engagement Specialist provides leadership, direction, and student support in student engagement, both on campus and in the community. This role focuses on students who are not currently connected to school and community programming or are part of an at-risk population. The Specialist's responsibilities include providing comprehensive cross-curricular support, assisting with learning gaps from the previous school year and supporting teachers in implementing evidence-based interventions. The position aligns with the Well Rounded initiative, ensuring access and opportunities for students who need academic and behavioral support.
PLEASE NOTE
This position is funded through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (TITLE GRANT). The funding for this position is contingent on grant approval and grant funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement strategies to engage students who are not currently connected to school and community programming. Provide support and guidance to at-risk students, including developing personalized plans for academic and social success. Collaborate with teachers to identify and address learning gaps from the previous school year, providing targeted interventions as needed. Assist teachers in implementing evidence-based practices to improve student engagement and academic achievement. Coordinate with community organizations to provide additional support and resources for at-risk students. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of student engagement initiatives, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet the needs of students and the school community. Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant policies and regulations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to operate computer-related hardware and software programs Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent 1 year previous work with children experience preferred Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
Computer Proficiency:
Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Google, Microsoft Excel, Word.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with employees, external agencies and the public.
