Open until Filled School Counselor for the 2026-2027 School Year Full-time (1.0 FTE) position available Catalina Foothills High School Requires a Master\'s degree in Counseling and a current Arizona Guidance Counselor certificate at the time of hire.Definition:
Under the administrative direction of the school principal, the school counselor is responsible for providing a comprehensive school counseling program that is preventive in design and developmental in implementation. The program supports the development of the knowledge and skills students need to achieve academic success and college and career readiness. The focus of this position is on the services provided to freshmen to establish a strong academic foundation and support them in the transition to high school.Summary:

Preventative and Responsive Services:
Designs, implements, and assesses the effectiveness of the school counseling core curriculum. Utilizes responsive counseling strategies, such as short-term individual and group counseling, based on students\' academic, career, and self-management and social skills needs with a focus on freshmen. Collaborate daily with the 9th grade Assistant Principal to support students with academic and behavior/discipline needs. Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational or community agencies regarding students with identified concerns or needs. Assesses student needs and makes referrals to appropriate school resource personnel and/or community agencies. Maintains an on-going dialogue with administrators, teachers, and other school personnel regarding the needs of students. Intervenes during crisis situations and participates on the school crisis team.Individual Student Planning:
Meet individually with all freshmen to discuss goals, recommend academic resources, provide options for course and career pathways, and encourage involvement in the school community. At the beginning of the school year, meet with all new-to-district freshmen to support a seamless transition to the high school (e.g., course selection, graduation requirements, general questions about the high school). Conduct regular check-ins to monitor the academic progress of freshmen who are not passing their classes. Discuss available resources and include parents/guardians, as needed. Utilizes available student data to identify students in need, develop and implement academic and career plans, and to deliver services. Prepares students for the transition to the next level. Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with academic and career planning, accommodations, and interventions. Participates on school teams in order to advocate for students\' needs and provide guidance for school staff.Program Management, System Support, & Accountability:
Communicates the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to educators and families. Collaborates on the implementation and management of the school counseling program with the school administrator. Supports students and parents/guardians through freshman-specific activities including, but not limited to, working with the Link Crew, Falcon Fly-ins, Future Falcon Open House, 8th grade parent FFO meetings, course selection at the middle schools, and recruiting families at local out-of-district middle schools. Collects and analyzes data to guide the school counseling program direction and emphasis, and to set annual goals. Conducts a yearly program audit with the principal to review the extent and quality of program implementation, and shares results, as appropriate. Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession. Uses the majority of time (80%) providing direct and indirect services to students. Maintains current and relevant resources for students, educators, and parents/guardians. Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality. Performs other related duties, as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
