College Counselor Young Scholars Academy - 3.7 Diamond Bar, CA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $20 - $30 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications School experience Working with 12th graders Working with 10th graders Bachelor's degree Student-centered approaches (student motivation techniques) Time management Full Job Description Educational Counselor Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered College Counselor to guide students and families through the college planning and application process. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about higher education admissions, financial aid, and career pathways, and is passionate about helping students achieve their post-secondary goals. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized college advising to students (grades 9-12 or specified levels) Guide students through college selection, applications, essays, and interviews Assist with financial aid, FAFSA/CSS Profile, and scholarship searches Organize college fairs, information sessions, and parent workshops Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college admissions trends and requirements Support students in developing academic and extracurricular profiles aligned with their goals Write letters of recommendation and review application materials Track application deadlines and maintain accurate student records Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and families to support student success Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Graduate from a Top 30 U.S. University Experience in college counseling, admissions, or secondary school guidance Strong knowledge of college admissions processes and financial aid systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time management abilities Ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds Familiarity with college planning platforms (e.g., Naviance, Scoir, Common App) preferred
