DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Basic Responsibilities Develop, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of the 9-12 school counseling program in cooperation with the high school administration. Oversee comprehensive college planning, special event planning and career education programs and financial aid programs. Plan and chair departmental meetings. Provide leadership in programing for students transitioning from 8th-9th grade. Oversee the college and career center. Keep current with national trends in school counseling and college admissions Provide regular school counselor services to students (reduced caseload) B. Responsibilities for Personnel Coordinate staff programs and responsibilities. Coordinate staff development programs for counselors and other faculty. Participate in the recruitment of guidance personnel in cooperation with the principal. Supervise non-certified personnel in the guidance office. Supervise the counseling and guidance interns when needed. C. Community and Staff Relations Provide leadership in developing community and staff understanding and appreciation of the 9-12 guidance program. Serve as a resource to faculty, administration, parents and community for understanding the developmental needs of youth. Serve as a liaison between school and other community and professional agencies. D. Financial Responsibility Develop and oversee the school counseling budget, 9-12, in consultation with the principal. E. Administrative Policies and Responsibilities Ensure district policies are followed with respect to the maintenance of student records. Serve on building leadership committees Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Hold Connecticut State Certification in Guidance Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Ability to use data, analyze trends, and create consensus around group goals Administration certification (092) preferred
