Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a difference supporting a high school student as a full-time 1:1 paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity is based near Norwich, CT, and offers a rewarding chance to build meaningful connections and provide essential academic guidance. You'll work closely alongside a student with high functioning autism, focusing on helping them achieve their academic goals within a supportive and inclusive environment.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Previous experience as a paraprofessional, particularly in school settings Demonstrated success supporting high school students Familiarity working with individuals with high functioning autism Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills Ability to follow educational plans and adapt to student needs Commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and encouraging learning atmosphere
Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 academic support to a high school student throughout the school day Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to implement instructional strategies and accommodations Encourage independence and self-advocacy skills in line with the student's educational plan Assist with organization, assignment completion, and class participation Model positive social skills and assist with peer interactions when needed Monitor progress and communicate feedback to the educational team
