High School Academic Counselor

Please note all applicants must be a current US resident. ESI is now hiring a High School Academic Counselor in the Miami, Florida area for the 2026-2027 school year.

POSITION SUMMARY

ESI is seeking a High School Academic Counselor who is responsible for providing students with counseling services, developing academic guidance for the school, and supporting students with their social, emotional, and academic well-being. The school counselor will additionally collaborate with the leadership team, staff, parents, and community to support student success and implement interventions to address student needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree or higher in Guidance and Counseling Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in corresponding subject area or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status in such subject area required. Prior Counseling Experience Preferred Commitment to upholding our mission and vision Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, push a cart, or lift during the entire shift. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including small packages and supplies. Ability to pass Level 2 background check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Counseling:

Provide individual and group counseling to address students' personal, social, emotional, and academic challenges.

Collaboration:

Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success and implement interventions.

Guidance:

Offer guidance on academic planning, career exploration, and post-secondary options.

Assessment:

Evaluate student abilities, interests, and needs through various methods, including aptitude tests and interviews.

Crisis Intervention:

Provide support and guidance during school crises, and refer students and families to appropriate resources.

Curriculum Development:

Develop and implement school counseling programs and classroom presentations aligned with the Florida School Counseling Framework.

Data Analysis:

Analyze data to identify trends and needs, and advocate for systemic changes to improve student outcomes.

Professional Development:

Attend professional development workshops and stay updated on best practices in school counseling. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare classroom for class activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments. Any other duties as assigned.
