Job Description

School Counselor A progressive and innovative independent school is seeking a passionate and experienced School Counselor to join its growing faculty for the 2026-2027 school year . Our educational model combines a rigorous academic curriculum with a strong commitment to social-emotional learning, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, creativity, critical thinking, entrepreneurial thinking, and whole-child development. We believe students thrive when academic excellence is balanced with personal growth and emotional well-being. We are seeking a counselor who is enthusiastic about supporting students and families while contributing to a collaborative and mission-driven educational community. Responsibilities Support students' social-emotional development through individual, small-group, and whole-group counseling and instruction Lead social-emotional learning initiatives and professional development for faculty Provide educational support and guidance for parents Understand and address the academic and social-emotional needs of gifted and diverse learners Manage student support services including speech, occupational therapy, gifted education, and related services Serve as the lead coordinator and primary point of contact for parent support meetings Collaborate with parents, teachers, specialists, counselors, and external providers Monitor students' academic and social-emotional progress Develop support plans and resources tailored to student needs Refer students for educational, psychological, or family support services when appropriate Respond to faculty concerns regarding student needs and provide guidance Coordinate standardized testing processes Maintain positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff Engage in ongoing professional learning and development Qualifications Master's degree or higher in School Counseling, Guidance, Education, or a related field Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills Experience with social-emotional learning curriculum strongly preferred Gifted endorsement is a plus Ability to work across multiple academic subject areas Passion for helping children thrive academically and emotionally Commitment to progressive educational practices and continuous learning Strong problem-solving skills and solution-oriented mindset Experience in an independent or private school setting preferred
