Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Counselor to join our vibrant educational community. In this vital role, you will support the social, emotional, and academic development of young learners, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment. Your expertise will help students navigate challenges, develop essential life skills, and succeed both inside and outside the classroom. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' lives through proactive counseling, behavioral management, and collaboration with staff and families. Duties Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on emotional well-being, behavioral health, and social skills development for students across grade levels. Develop tailored academic advising plans to support students' educational progress and address learning barriers. Manage conflict resolution and behavior management strategies to promote a safe, respectful school climate. Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and external specialists such as child protective services or mental health professionals to support student welfare. Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to identify student needs related to childhood development, social-emotional skills, or special education requirements. Offer culturally sensitive counseling that respects diverse backgrounds and promotes inclusivity within the school community. Assist in crisis intervention situations related to behavioral health or mental health concerns, ensuring appropriate follow-up care or referrals. Support classroom teachers by integrating social-emotional learning strategies into daily activities and classroom management practices. Experience Certification in school counseling required. Prior experience working with children in an educational or social work setting is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles and behavioral health practices. Experience in conflict management, behavior management techniques, and crisis intervention is essential. Background in special education or working with students with diverse needs is advantageous. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, staff, and external agencies. Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and child welfare protocols is beneficial. Certification or licensure in school counseling, mental health counseling, or related fields is required; additional training in cultural diversity counseling or Christian counseling is a plus. $50,000.00 - $65,556.00 per year
