Job Description

Summary:
The School Counselor will serve as a key member of the student support team, delivering school-wide counseling services, supporting student mental health and wellness, providing academic and behavioral guidance, and collaborating with staff and families to foster a healthy school climate.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students
  • Support crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and behavior de-escalation
  • Deliver classroom lessons on SEL topics (e.g., friendship, conflict resolution, managing emotions)
  • Collaborate with teachers, SPED staff, and administration to support student success
  • Support parent engagement through regular communication and educational workshops
  • Maintain records in compliance with FERPA and DOE standards
  • Assist with implementation of the school's PBIS and 504 processes
  • Participate in SST meetings and IEP meetings when appropriate
  • Liaise with community mental health providers and services
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field required
  • Hawaii DOE licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including SPED and 504 plans
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Background in trauma-informed care
  • Familiarity with Waldorf or holistic education practices
  • Experience with restorative practices and SEL curricula
Job Types:

$27,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
