TITLE:
Student Success Coordinator (MS/HS)
REPORTS TO
MS/HS Principal
Position Purpose
The Student Success Coordinator supports students in developing the academic, behavioral, emotional, and self-regulation skills necessary for success in school and beyond. This position oversees and delivers programming within the district's Resiliency Room for 7-12-grade students and the At-Risk Program, providing structured academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports for students experiencing challenges that impact learning, while helping them remain connected to school and progress toward graduation. The Student Success Coordinator also provides direction and oversight of support staff assigned to these programs to ensure consistent, effective student support services. This role maintains high expectations, fosters strong relationships, and collaborates closely with teachers, administrators, counselors, special education staff, families, and community partners to support student growth and engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention
Provide direct academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students participating in the Resiliency Room and At Risk Programming. Support students in developing self-regulation, conflict resolution, coping, communication, and problem-solving skills
Implement behavior intervention plans, accommodations, and individualized supports as appropriate
Facilitate restorative conversations and reflection opportunities with students
Help students successfully transition back to the classroom environment following behavioral or emotional escalations
Monitor and document student progress, attendance, behaviors, interventions, and supports
Build meaningful relationships that increase student engagement, accountability, and connection to school
At Risk & Academic Programming
Oversee and coordinate the district's At-Risk Program
Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements and course completion
Support students in maintaining academic progress and developing organizational and executive functioning skills
Assist students in goal setting, time management, and completion of coursework
Collaborate with counselors and administrators to identify students needing intervention and support
Coordinate Summer Credit Recovery programming
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, AEA staff, special education staff, and families to support student success
Participate in problem-solving teams, IEP meetings, 504 meetings, MTSS processes, and behavior planning meetings as needed
Participate in the building leadership teams to support school improvement initiatives. Maintain consistent communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, supports, and interventions
Help foster positive relationships between students, staff, and families
Support district initiatives aligned to student growth, engagement, and the Portrait of a Saber competencies
Learning Environment
Maintain a calm, structured, safe, and supportive environment for students
Use proactive classroom management and de-escalation strategies
Promote accountability while preserving student dignity and relationships
Encourage resiliency, responsibility, and student ownership of learning and behavior
Create systems and routines that support consistency and student success
Program Coordination & Supervision
Coordinate and oversee daily operations of the Resiliency Room and At Risk Program
Provide direction, support, and supervision to associates and support staff assigned to student success programming
Help establish consistent expectations, procedures, and interventions within the program
Collaborate with administration regarding staffing, scheduling, student needs, and program effectiveness
Support training and implementation of behavior supports, de-escalation strategies, and student intervention practices
Assist with staff professional learning by helping plan and facilitate professional development aligned to the district's at-risk goals. Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. This position follows the certified teachers' contract with an additional 25 days.

Travel Requirements

Qualifications/Experience
Valid Iowa teaching license required
Special Education endorsement preferred
Experience working with students with behavioral, emotional, or academic needs preferred
Experience supporting alternative programming, credit recovery, or at-risk students preferred
CPI, de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, or similar training preferred
Strong relationship-building, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all situations
Education
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or related disciple applicable to teaching assignments
Masters Degree in related areas preferred.
