Elementary School CounselorQUALIFICATIONS
Valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services with a Standard Counselor K-12 or School Social Worker endorsement. (Those with the School Social Worker endorsement must also be licensed by the State of Idaho Department of Occupational Licenses.) Masters Degree in either Guidance and Counseling or Social Work from an accredited university. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO

To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To assist students, in a confidential manner, whose school performance is being negatively impacted due to emotional, behavioral, and/or social difficulties.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists students whose school performance is being negatively impacted due to emotional, behavioral, or social concerns.Responsibilities in this area include:
Collecting information and data about students with specific needs. Assessing student problems. Providing input and recommendations to the Multi-Disciplinary and IEP teams. Consulting with parents, staff and/or community agencies. Developing behavior improvement plans. Providing individual or small group counseling. Monitoring student progress and modifying interventions as needed. Provides crisis intervention. Typical crises that may require counselor support are: Student behavior problems requiring immediate intervention. School related incidents that have had an emotional impact on students or staff. (Examples may include the injury or death of a student or staff member, suicide attempts, bus accidents, school fires, etc.) Parents who require immediate intervention or support. Local or world events that have upset students and/or staff. Child protection referrals. Facilitates school success by providing small group or classroom instruction in areas such as: Organizational and study skills. Interpersonal skills. Drug education and prevention. Communication skills. Preparation for junior high (transitioning). Other areas as requested by parents and/or teachers and approved by the building administrator. Assists incoming or outgoing students make a transition from one school to another. Emphasis is given to the transition from elementary to junior high or middle school. Serves as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary and Individual Educational Planning teams. Provides information on the counseling and guidance services of the school to students, staff, parents, and the community. Provides other services as assigned. Examples may include coordination of conflict resolution programs, teaching parenting classes, serving on school or district committees, and serving as a member of the school's Impact Team (the team that develops and implements intervention strategies for students having drug/alcohol problems). Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher and the Idaho Code of Ethics.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time position scheduled for 190 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Collective Bargaining Agreement commensurate with years of experience and education.EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with board policy.
