Job Description Position:
High School Interventionist Reports to : Principal/Assistant Principal(s)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in educational psychology, social work, or a related student support service field. PEL or a counseling license is required.
Terms of Employment:
Nine ( 9) month position
Basic Function:
The High School Interventionist will work to support students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, or socially in a high school setting. The Interventionist will collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to identify students in need of intervention and provide targeted support to help them achieve success. The Interventionist also supports teachers with student behavior in the classroom.
Performance Responsibilities:
Identify high school students who are at risk of falling off track for graduation. Collaboratively develop intervention plans to address student's specific needs that includes goals and exit criteria. Provide academic and behavioral intervention for individuals and groups of students. Use Panorama and other sources to monitor student data and data-driven interventions. Teach the Skills for Success curriculum for the Student Success Intervention program. Facilitate restorative practices for students and staff. Communicate with families and facilitate teaming discussions regarding student progress. Develop strategies to support staff with general classroom and teacher interventions. Provide assistance with de-escalating student behaviors and supporting reintegration into the school, classroom, or an alternate environment Participate in intervention and leadership team meetings.
Qualifications:
Experience working with high school students in an academic or counseling capacity preferred. Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and strategies for working with students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, or socially. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, counselors, and other school staff. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Creatively problem-solve.
