Hold a Type 73 Illinois Certificate in Counseling Bachelor's degree or higher Prior job experience preferred Display strong listening skills, questioning abilities, problem solving skills and Ability to work as both a colleague and a Display courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with Ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.REPORTS TO

To provide assistance and support in order to help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that help make them productive citizens.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBITIES
1. Aides students in course and subject selection based upon the evaluation of career interests and life choices. 2. Meet with student(s) to provide post-secondary guidance and goal setting by evaluating and planning for high school graduation. 3. Provide career exploration for all grade levels K-12 4. Remain readily available to students so as to provide counseling that will lead to students to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity. 5. Meet with every 8th grade student and make recommendations for high school 6. Prepare and make available transcripts for high school students, current and former. 7. Updates permanent record cards at the end of each school year for middle school & high 8. Prepare/print report cards and progress reports for middle school/high school; is available for backup for the elementary school when the need arises. 9. Obtain and disseminate information related to vocational and/or college to students and their parents. 10. Enter and exit all students in the SIS database, verify demographic information, request SID numbers for new students to the district K-12. 11. Serve as the District Testing Coordinator for all state tests including but not limited to ordering of test and materials, communicate with administrators regarding special order tests, request accommodations, deliver materials to schools in a timely manner, verify the return of all testing materials and ensure prompt delivery of materials to ISBE for gradesK-12. 12.
Assist in creating the master schedule for middle school/high 13. Serves as a member of the district leadership 14. Provides interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning as needed K-12. 15.Attend all Data Review 16. Maintain a record of services provided to students this includes an individual 17. Host orientation programs for parents & students to help with transition from school to 18. Collaborate with administrators to update curriculum 19. Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance student learning. 20. Act as a resource to the Superintendent, Principal(s), School Psychologist, and Social Worker. 21. Perform other tasks and duties that are requested by the Board, Principal or Superintendent.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year to be established by the BoardEVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) and SB 7. Any conflicts within this provision and SB 7 will be superseded by Ed Reform.Position Type:
