POSITION SUMMARY
Assumes major responsibility for counseling and guidance services for students assigned at the building level.
DUTIES:
Scheduling students in their program of studies. Implement testing program. Act as a consultant to parents regarding their child and his/her progress and/or adjustment. Candidate participates in the 8-Step Process of instruction and remediation/enrichment. Provide personal counseling for students experiencing adjustment difficulties. Candidate uses data to guide instructional decision making and works collaboratively in a Professional Learning Community. Act as a consultant to teachers regarding individual students with learning and/or behavior problems. Guide students regarding career development. Help students to obtain financial aid for post-high school education. Refer students to outside agencies for help when necessary. Registration and orientation of new students. Assists with the coordination of case conferences. Urban education experience. Extensive background in designing and implementing innovative programming for adolescent students and families.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in guidance and counseling. Indiana State license in school counseling. Experience with high school age students. Observed ability to establish strong rapport with students and adults. Must not currently be on a Performance Improvement Plan.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in standard office and school building enviroments. Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours. Must be able to handle stress.
