Job Description
Summary Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team and support students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, providing academic, emotional, and social guidance to help students achieve their full potential. This full-time position requires strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for student development. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, personal, social, and emotional issues. Assist students in developing academic plans and career pathways, including college and vocational guidance. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive educational environment. Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and track progress. Organize and implement programs and workshops on topics such as study skills, stress management, and conflict resolution. Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation. Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and community. Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and education. Requirements Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field. Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor. Previous experience in a school setting, preferably at the high school level. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and staff. Knowledge of college admissions processes, career exploration, and academic advising. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently manage caseloads. Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community. Proficiency in using technology and counseling software for record-keeping and communication.
