Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Counselor to join our vibrant educational community. In this vital role, you will support the social, emotional, and academic development of students in a dynamic middle school environment. Your expertise will help foster a positive school climate, promote mental health wellness, and guide students through their formative years with compassion and professionalism. Duties Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on behavioral health, mental health counseling, and childhood development to support students' emotional well-being. Develop and implement comprehensive behavioral management strategies to address student conduct issues proactively. Collaborate with teachers and staff to create inclusive classroom environments that respect cultural diversity and promote social-emotional learning. Conduct academic advising to help students set goals, navigate challenges, and plan their educational pathways effectively. Administer standardized testing and interpret results to inform instructional practices and student support plans. Coordinate with child protective services and child welfare agencies when necessary to ensure student safety and well-being. Offer specialized counseling services such as Christian counseling or cultural diversity counseling based on student needs. Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions, behavioral incidents, and progress reports in compliance with school policies. Stay informed about current best practices in social work, conflict management, and childhood development to enhance service delivery. Communicate clearly with parents, guardians, teachers, and external agencies to support holistic student development. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor or mental health professional. Proven experience working with children and adolescents in educational or clinical settings. Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies. Familiarity with special education programs and accommodations for students with special needs. Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions tailored to developmental stages of middle school students. Understanding of standardized testing procedures and interpretation of assessment data. Ability to collaborate across teams including teachers, administrators, social workers, and external service providers.
