Morris Jeff Community School expects the school counselor to place students' emotional needs at the forefront of their priorities and work. This role requires the ability to collaborate daily with colleagues to meet students' needs. This role is critical to ensuring our students have access to a holistic education that addresses their academic, physical, social, and emotional needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCEQUALIFICATIONS
Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or obtaining licensure through active supervision (PLPC) or (LMSW) Minimum of two years of school counseling experience preferred Bilingual candidates preferred Embody and reflect the values of Morris Jeff Community School and the attributes of the International Baccalaureate's Learner Profile Superior communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team in support of all students Demonstrated success in providing counseling and mental health services to elementary-aged children
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individual, group, and/or crisis counseling services for identified students Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, and administrators Work collaboratively with the Principals, Deans of Students, Director of Mental Health Services, MJCS Mental Health Team, Special Education Department, Teachers, and Community Service Providers to support the diverse needs of our school community. Participate in the SAT evaluation and IEP process to determine student needs/progress and develop appropriate goals and interventions related to academic achievement, behavior, and social/emotional skills Connect and refer families to outside resources, agencies, and practitioners as appropriate Support the attendance team by monitoring students with excessive absences and engaging in problem-solving Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding trends related to student well-being and academic achievement Support, promote, and participate in a diverse school community Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities needed by the school
