BU PATH AmeriCorps - 4.3 Boston, MA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Qualifications Associate's degree Full Job Description BU PATH (Planning & Advising for Transitions to Higher Education) places well-trained recent college graduates into underserved high schools to serve as near-peer AmeriCorps college and career advisors. PATH advisors work within their school placements to promote a culture of college attendance and to increase educational opportunities for all students. PATH advisors assist students with completing college or trade applications and applying for financial aid; advisers are committed to helping each student find his or her "best-fit" institution. PATH currently has 23 advisors serving in 26 high schools across Boston, Malden, and Somerville.
Member Duties :
Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid assistance to students and families. Organize group events that encourage students and families to create post-graduate plans/apply to college. Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors and teachers in assigned partner school. Assess, in consultation with PATH and partner school, the needs of the school and adapt programs and activities to meet these needs. Assist the PATH and evaluation staff by collecting and interpreting key progress and outcome variables to evaluate the effectiveness of programming. Record service activity data and submit monthly progress reports to document outcomes. Maintain expertise in admissions and financial aid advising by participating fully in pre- and in-service training and other opportunities for professional development.
