Immediately Job Description Everett Alternative High School Adjunct Guidance Counselor•Summer The Alternative School Adjunct Guidance Counselor is responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. This Counselor is critical to the success of our alternative school program for overaged, under-credited High School Students. The Alternative School Counselor must be flexible and willing to meet the scheduling needs of students and must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Massachusetts Licensure in Guidance/School Counseling SEI Endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Education or a related field. Current Guidance/College and Career Counselor at Everett Public Schools with knowledge of HQIM and programs used at the high school level. Experience using educational technology tools to support interactive learning. Strong ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Essential Duties:
Plan and facilitate college and career readiness lessons for in-person learning and hybrid models aligned with the MASCA and MyCAP. Teach daily mini-lessons to small groups of students and one to one. Support students completing the EPS registration process. Regularly schedule students, in Aspen, for courses needed to graduate. Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners. Communicate regularly with student families using culturally responsive strategies that foster two-way conversations. Embrace a strong growth mindset and engage in professional development that addresses the challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps. Collaborate with the colleagues and supervisor to refer students who require social-emotional support. Collaborate with the Special Education department and colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are adequately and consistently delivered. Complete other tasks as assigned, to support the summer program.
Times:
3 days per week, 10am•1pm, with an additional hour of planning each week. The program runs 5 weeks, starting June 23rd and runs through July 23rd. Hours not to exceed 50 hours or $2,000.
