Job Description
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide individual and group counseling as well as crisis management
2. Provide consultation to staff in order to ensure implementation of "best practices" for all students.
3. Perform casework services with individual children to address their behavioral,
emotional or social functioning that impedes their academic and social progress.
4. Provide recommendations and upon approval by the program coordinator, coordinate the
referral of children to various agencies as necessary.
5. Provide psycho-educational support for children
6. Maintain case records and submit statistical data as required.
7. Create and maintain school wide behavior management system and analyze data in order to enhance student performance in skill acquisition.
8. Provide case management and coordination of services for identified students.
9. Conduct FBA's
10. Consult and collaborate with staff in gathering and giving information on a student as part of the IEP team
11. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, parents, building
Administrators and outside agencies in order to provide consistency in programming.
12. Assist in the IEP process by attending meetings, summarizing data and the development
of measurable goals and objectives.
13. Perform casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students;
to increase the parent's understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
14. To provide other duties related to parent involvement as directed by the building administrator
REQUIREMENTS
1. Master's Degree in social work, counselor, psychology, applied behavior analysis or related field from an accredited college or university.
2. A DESE certification, in one of the following:
School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor
School Counselor
School Psychologist
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with data collection, conducting FBAs, and writing behavior support plans.
2. Experience in writing and implementing programs to support IEP goals
3. Experience with strong classroom management skills working with Middle or Secondary students.
4. Experience supporting students with Social and Emotional/Behavioral disabilities.
5. Experience collaborating with and supporting faculty, support staff, parents
and Administrators.
6. Demonstrates skill in written and oral communication.
