Aug 24, 2026 Job Description The Ayer Shirley Regional School District is looking for a qualified School Adjustment Counselor to promote and assist academic, social, emotional, career, and learning development for all students. Responsibilities include: Support diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students and families Design and deliver social-emotional learning through classroom lessons, school-wide initiatives (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), group and individual counseling, educator consultation and training, and parent workshops Parent communication, teacher consultation, and coordination of Section 504 accommodation plans Work collaboratively and consult as a team member with teachers, principals, and other school personnel for purposes of identifying, evaluating, and recommending interventions for the adjustment of students Meet with parents as needed to obtain information, and/or to suggest interventions to provide support for students in need Responsible for the individual counseling of IEP and 504 students with social/emotional goals as determined through the team meeting process Attend IEP/504 meetings that are attached to the caseload and any additional requested meetings. May be asked to write social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, and any other appropriate paperwork as needed Work in conjunction with the Special Education and Student Services Department Responsible for writing social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, FBA, and any other appropriate paperwork as assigned Communicate with third-party providers as appropriate to each student Responsible for pre-referral conferences with school personnel in a team context for the appropriate intervention for a student Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school personnel Participate and organize counseling activities that contribute to the effectiveness and operation of the school
