Job Description

The Center for Student Success (CSS) is a drop-in academic support program located in the Wellesley High School Library that provides students with individualized assistance to help them achieve academic success. Students accessing CSS receive one-on-one support in areas such as executive functioning, long-term planning, prioritizing academic responsibilities, organization, and study skills. The CSS schedule is available in all house offices and through the QR code that includes all academic lab and help center schedules. Position Summary The CSS Educator plays a critical role in supporting students by providing individualized academic coaching and intervention designed to meet learners where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. This educator must be highly organized, student-centered, and adaptable, with the ability to build strong relationships while helping students develop the skills necessary for long-term academic success. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group academic support for students in areas including executive functioning, study skills, time management, organization, and prioritization of assignments. Assist students with planning for long-term assignments, breaking tasks into manageable steps, and developing systems to stay on track academically. Maintain accurate records of student visits, progress, interventions, and follow-up plans. Communicate regularly with students' school counselors, caregivers, and assistant principals regarding student progress, concerns, and areas of growth. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to identify student needs and implement appropriate interventions. Create a welcoming, flexible, and supportive environment that encourages students to seek assistance proactively. Help students develop self-advocacy skills and independence in managing their academic responsibilities. Adjust instructional strategies and support methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Qualifications and Skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple student needs, schedules, and follow-up responsibilities effectively. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build productive relationships with staff, students, and families. Strong listening skills with the ability to understand student concerns and respond thoughtfully. Effective problem-solving skills to help students overcome academic challenges and barriers to success. Flexible and adaptable mindset with a commitment to meeting learners where they are. Self-motivated professional who can take initiative and respond proactively to student needs. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred. Knowledge of executive functioning strategies, academic intervention practices, and student support systems preferred.
