Aug 26, 2026 Job Description Position Overview The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a METCO Academic Liaison to support students at Weston High School. The Liaison reports directly to the METCO Director and the High School Principal, and partners with High School and METCO staff, and families, to foster academic growth and success, effective parental engagement, intrapersonal development, and cultural proficiency. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission, core values, and strategic plan. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary, desegregation program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 150 students (K-12). At the High School level, the METCO Academic Liaison's caseload is generally 40 - 45 students. Key Responsibilities Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion Support a case load of roughly 40-45 students at the High school Consult with teachers, staff and parents to monitor the academic and social progress of students Coordinate extra help for students in conjunction with teachers and specialists Coordinate other academic and counseling support as needed Greet students upon arrival and support them with end of day transitions Serve as an advisor to students on academic, personal, and social matters Create a student-centered office that makes students feel welcomed and open to use the space when available Create and implement group and individual meetings with students in the METCO program Supplement the Guidance Department by conducting ongoing support and assessment of students, including support with the college application process Serve as a member of all Individual Education Plan (IEP) evaluation teams for High School students in the METCO program, and participate in family/teacher meetings as needed Communicate regularly with parents and provide parent advocacy support Meet regularly with the High School principal, assistant principal and METCO director Participate in High School staff meetings, data team meetings, and instructional support team (IST) meetings as needed Collaborate with other METCO Academic Liaisons and the METCO Director to support students, families and programming Communicate and collaborate with representatives of various scholarship organizations, and support students in the scholarship application process Plan end of the year METCO Senior Appreciation Celebration Attend 4 evening or weekend METCO events during the school year Other duties as assigned by the High School Principal or METCO Director Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field Educator license from DESE preferred Successful experience as a teacher, social worker, counselor, or related educator Results driven and flexible, with excellent planning and organizational skills Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite Strong work ethic and an eagerness to improve A commitment to doing whatever it takes to support all students learning and development Compensation and Benefits This is a school-year role (184 days over a full school year), represented by the Weston Education Association, and entitled to the same salary schedule as teachers and other professional staff. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
