COMPENSATION

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website. All internal applicants who are interested in this position should apply within ten days of this posting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop, implement and update the guidance curriculum in order to raise achievement levels for all students in accordance with the school's mission and national standards. Participate in programs for parents and students in order to facilitate communication between the school, home and community. Possess a working knowledge of student information systems. Counsel individuals and groups concerning their educational and occupational plans along with their immediate needs and specific challenges. Provide social/emotional, academic and career counseling to students in grades 8-12. Assist in the transition between high school and middle school. Understand the laws that govern special education students including those that impact IEP's and 504 plans. Facilitate appropriate referrals based on knowledge of community and state agencies. Possess a working knowledge of Mass. Core requirements, MCAS requirements and EWIS. Work cooperatively with other members of the school and district to best meet the needs of the students at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the high school administration. School counselors at DYRHS work 12 days in addition to the teacher's 185-day contract and are paid at their per-diem rate for the additional days.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Secondary School Counselor/Guidance Counselor by MA DESE, grades 8-12. Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Commitment to work as a team with teachers, counselors and administrators Ability to use technology for data analysis, scheduling and communication At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred Master degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work visa required Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply Citizenship, residency or work visa required
