Parcells Middle Schools Position Summary The MTSS Culture and Climate Coach is an instructional staff member focused on building and maintaining a positive, supportive, and inclusive school culture. This role supports the implementation of Tier 1 behavioral strategies, school-wide expectations, and positive behavior interventions aligned with the school's MTSS framework. The coach works collaboratively with students, staff, and families to promote proactive behavioral supports, restorative practices, and consistent school-wide structures that foster student success and belonging. Essential Responsibilities Support the implementation and ongoing development of Tier 1 behavioral supports within the school's MTSS framework. Reinforce and model school-wide expectations and positive behavior interventions. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff to strengthen school culture and climate. Provide proactive behavioral support and coaching to students in both classroom and non-classroom settings. Address and manage minor (non-office referrals) disciplinary infractions through restorative and instructional approaches as an alternative to exclusionary discipline practices when appropriate. Facilitate restorative conversations, problem-solving meetings, and conflict resolution with students. Assist staff with the implementation of restorative practices and consistent behavioral structures across the school environment. Build positive relationships with students to increase engagement, accountability, and connectedness to school. Support supervision and positive student interactions during transitions, lunch, arrival/dismissal, and other common areas as needed. Collect, analyze, and monitor behavioral data to identify trends, evaluate the effectiveness of school-wide systems, and guide proactive interventions and supports. Utilize behavioral data to support the implementation and reinforcement of school-wide expectations and identify areas of need for students and staff. Collaborate with school leadership to plan and facilitate professional development related to Tier 1 behavioral practices, restorative approaches, classroom management, and school-wide systems. Provide professional learning, modeling, and coaching for staff related to behavior supports, classroom management, and restorative practices. Partner with families and community stakeholders to support student growth and positive school experiences. Participate in MTSS, PBIS, student support, and school improvement teams as assigned. Daily Flow of Responsibilities While each day may vary based on student and school needs, the MTSS Culture and Climate Coach's daily responsibilities may include: Greeting students during arrival and helping establish a positive start to the school day. Monitoring hallways, common areas, lunch periods, and transitions to reinforce school-wide expectations and proactively support student behavior. Conducting student check-ins/check-outs and relationship-building conversations throughout the day. Responding to minor behavioral concerns (non-office referrals) and utilizing restorative or instructional approaches to help students problem solve and re-engage in learning. Supporting classroom teachers with behavior strategies, de-escalation support, and implementation of Tier 1 behavioral practices. Facilitating restorative circles, reflection opportunities, or conflict-resolution meetings with students. Collaborating with counselors, administrators, social workers, and teachers regarding student supports and behavioral interventions. Pulling and reviewing behavioral data to identify trends, determine areas of need, and help guide school-wide behavioral supports and interventions. Collaborating with administration to plan professional development and staff support based on behavioral trends and school-wide data. Reinforcing positive behavior through school-wide recognition systems, incentives, and celebrations. Providing follow-up communication with students, staff, and families when appropriate. Assisting in the development and maintenance of consistent school-wide systems and routines that promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Qualifications Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Math or English focus preferred) Demonstrated Expertise in Tier 1 Instructional Practices Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring Skills Knowledge of MTSS Frameworks and Equity-Focused Practices Experience Supporting Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Application Procedure:
