Job Description

Position Purpose:
As members of the Academic Success Center team, Success Coaches foster the development of students' skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to college success, and help students identify and overcome obstacles that impede academic progress. Success coaches collaborate with students, their advisers, and other campus partners to help connect students to university support resources. Success Coaches manage a caseload of students in designated populations, monitoring their progress through scheduled meetings, proactive outreach, and regular communication. Success Coaches contribute to the overall success of the coaching program by creating coaching resources, facilitating academic workshops, and participating in assessment measures. Success Coaches also contribute to existing and emerging university initiatives related to student success and retention by participating in committees and other programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with experience in teaching, academic support or tutoring, school psychology, social work, or a similar field within a secondary or post-secondary education setting. Experience in coaching, mentoring or counseling techniques focused on supporting students' academic success in individual, small group and/or classroom settings. Commitment to serving students from a variety of educational, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and web conferencing software. Proven ability to communicate clearly, manage multiple priorities, think critically, and work with precision and independence. Adept at building productive, supportive, and success-driven relationships with students and colleagues. Ability to work flexible hours and occasional nights/weekends.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in education, social work, counseling, higher ed, or similar with experience working in a higher education setting. Experience working with first-generation college students and/or students on academic probation. Expertise in at least one of the following areas: academic skill development, motivational interviewing / coaching techniques, caseload management, first-generation student support
