Job Description

Category Schools - Counselor Job Type Contract Make a significant impact by supporting high school students as a dedicated school counselor in a dynamic educational environment near Westland, MI. This full-time contract opportunity spans the academic year from August 24, 2026, to June 4, 2027, with an engaging caseload focused on providing guidance and support to high school students as they navigate academic and personal challenges.
Desired Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Michigan teaching certificate with a
SCHOOL COUNSELOR
(NT) K-12 endorsement Bachelor's degree with the required state certification Applicants who have relevant teaching experience will be given special consideration Comprehensive understanding of concepts related to your content area Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach toward supporting diverse student populations
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group counseling sessions to help students set academic, career, and personal goals Collaborate actively with teachers, administrators, and caregivers to develop and implement student support plans Assist in planning and coordinating programs that foster student development, well-being, and college/career readiness Address student crises with professionalism and empathy, making appropriate referrals as needed Maintain accurate, confidential records and follow all district and state guidelines regarding student services Advocate for the needs and best interests of high school students within the school community This role provides the chance to create transformative relationships with students during pivotal academic years.
