Immediately Job Description Behavior Interventionist Southern Boone Primary School 2026-2027 School Year Southern Boone Primary School is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Behavior Interventionist for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is responsible for providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students who require additional interventions to achieve success in the school setting. The Recovery Room Teacher will work collaboratively with students, teachers, administrators, counselors, and families to create a positive, supportive environment that promotes student growth, self-regulation, and academic achievement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building skills and the ability to effectively coach, motivate, redirect, and de-escalate student behaviors using evidence-based practices.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide academic and behavioral support for students requiring targeted interventions. Develop positive relationships with students while fostering accountability, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills. Implement behavior intervention strategies aligned with schoolwide expectations and PBIS frameworks. Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, counselors, and families to support student success. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation related to academic and behavioral interventions. Participate as an active member of the PBIS Tier II and Tier III teams, assisting in the identification, development, implementation, and monitoring of student intervention plans. Facilitate restorative practices and teach replacement behaviors to support positive student outcomes. Supervise In-School Suspension (ISS) when assigned and provide structured academic support and behavioral coaching during ISS placements. Assist with crisis prevention and intervention efforts as needed. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Valid Missouri teaching certificate required. Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III interventions. Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral, social-emotional, and academic challenges preferred. Knowledge of behavior management, de-escalation techniques, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff members. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. The ideal candidate is student-centered, proactive, collaborative, and committed to helping all students develop the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills necessary for success.
