JOB SUMMARY
Normandy School Collaborative is seeking a compassionate and dedicated High School Counselor to join our dynamic team for the 2026-2027 school year! Our ideal candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and families to promote the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our high school students. This role includes helping students with their personal development, managing academic challenges, preparing for college and career opportunities, and promoting a positive school environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students regarding academic, career, and personal issues. Assist students with course selection, graduation requirements, and college and career planning. Coordinate standardized testing, including scheduling and providing guidance on preparation. Provide crisis intervention and support to students in distress, working with school staff to develop action plans. Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and teachers to address academic and social-emotional issues. Maintain accurate and confidential student records and files. Promote a positive school culture through conflict resolution, peer mediation, and bullying prevention programs. Keep up to date with current developments in education, mental health, and counseling techniques. Design and deliver programs that promote mental health, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior across the school community. Respond to urgent situations as they arise, providing immediate support to students and collaborating with appropriate personnel for crisis management. Keep accurate and confidential records of student counseling sessions, evaluations, and progress. Connect students and families with external support services when additional help is needed. Collaborate in school committees and attend staff meetings, contributing to a supportive and cohesive school community.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Ability to exercise judgment in decision-making.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Master's degree in guidance and counseling. A valid Missouri counseling certificate. Three years' experience.
