HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR NCA
is a Christian School serving grades Jr.

K-12. All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian school committed to Academic Excellence, Biblical Truth, and Christ-like character" New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates, for a full-time High School Counselor (annual 12-month employment agreement renewable annually pending board approval) beginning sometime in July 2026.
Additional Responsibility:
The School Counselor will also be responsible for managing the A+ program for an additional stipend.
JOB SUMMARY
The role of the High School Counselor is to guide and counsel individual students and groups for the purpose of meeting developmental, educational, and guidance needs. Assist in the coordination of the school testing programs and assure all ethical and standardized test administration procedures are followed. Implement the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program. Conduct classroom guidance lessons that contribute to the academic, college/career and personal/social development of all students. Assist students in making transitions between grade levels. Assist with the admissions process by testing prospective students, evaluating academic records, and conferring with the 5-12 principals regarding prospective or current students' potential for academic success. Coordinate the Student Support Team (SST) through the selection, development, and implementation of individual evidence-based academic/behavior intervention plans. Assist in the coordination of Special Education services through the referral process and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP). Manage and coordinate the dual credit program with colleges. (A full job description will be provided upon interview)
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
The School Counselor shall have a Master's Degree in a job-related area, but preferred in school counseling (note: certification in school counseling with life experience in youth ministry is preferred over church ministry-based counseling) and hold or have the ability to obtain Missouri Career Student Services certificate in school counseling. The Counselor must have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith and must demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ and have experience in counseling methods and/or education The Counselor must: Demonstrate the ability to organize, promote, and carry out the comprehensive counseling program Possess an understanding of child development stages Demonstrate an understanding of methods of instruction and training Must have an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian school
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
The Salary is based on education and experience in the role and will be determined upon interview. The full-time Counselor is offered medical insurance for the employee, with NCA paying for a majority of the premium. The employee may pay for additional supplemental plans for themself and their family. Fringe Benefits include a 50% discount on tuition for your own qualified student to attend New Covenant Academy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, possibly run, stretch, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must have the ability to demonstrate the proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation.
