Director of Upper School Position Summary:
Crosland views a counselor as a vital member of our educational team. Our ideal candidate will possess a knowledge base and passion for working with students with learning differences and be able to help students manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills and academic achievement strategies. They will implement a counseling program that will capitalize on student strengths.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Upper School faculty and the Director in supporting student success. Track and record psych-ed evaluations and maintain a snapshot database. Work closely with teachers and director to develop and implement Educational Management Plans (EMP's) and accommodation plans that align with students' unique needs. Lead college and career counseling in conjunction with teaching L.I.F.E. (Learning Independently and Financial Education) coursework. Oversee Senior Exploration Experience, securing internships for all 12th-grade students each January. Organize and lead College and Career Fair and visits off campus to a variety of post-graduation options. Maintain partnerships with workforce development options. Oversee the process of ACT and SAT student testing and accommodations. Collaborate with our Lower and Middle school counselors to work in alignment for schoolwide continuity. Prepare regular guidance and social-emotional mini-lessons and small group work as needed. Provide short-term counseling to students and refer students for long-term support Use behavior management systems that are effective with students with learning differences Collaborate and provide quality communication with families and teachers for student success Model professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers and the community Employ Restorative Practices to support relationship building and repairing harm Additional duties as assigned Current caseload: approx. 40 students Physical demands refer to the level and duration of physical exertion generally required to perform critical tasks in support of critical job functions, for example - standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in LCMHC, Social Work, or School Psychologist or similar programming License in a related field Strong desire to support students with learning differences Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills Strong organization and time-management skills Familiarity with and commitment to principles of Equity and Belonging Desire to continue to develop professionally by learning new programs and methodologies and curriculum Interested applicants should submit electronically and as separate documents the following materials: Cover letter expressing interest in the position Current resume
