North Carolina Cyber Academy (High School Division) Durham, North Carolina (Primarily Remote)
Job Type:
Full-time (Monday•Friday)
Salary Range:
$55,109•$85,820 per year (Based on experience, qualifications, and an 11-month work schedule)
About Us:
NCCA-HS is an online free public charter school committed to preparing students through virtual learning for success in tomorrow's world. We aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in post-secondary education and / or the profession of their choosing. NCCA-HS traditionally is one of the largest virtual high school programs in North Carolina averaging (1,300) 9th•12th grade students annually with a graduating class of 270+.
Job / Teaching Assignment Overview:
NCCA-HS has a position available in our Student Services (Counseling) Department for the 2026-27 school year. This position will have responsibilities supporting individual students and small groups for a segment of our student body (9th•12th Grades). The position is one of four counselors that support our overall comprehensive school counseling program. Student caseloads typically average 250•350 students per counselor.
We are seeking a dedicated School Counselor with proven results serving and supporting students regardless of grade level. Qualified candidates will be asked to share demonstrated examples of success working with students in a traditional, charter, or private school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage with parents, colleagues, and the community to support student success
Meet regularly with students and their parents / guardians to support academic success, career planning, and college access
Promote achievement via individual and group based interventions to targeted groups and follow established protocols for crisis intervention
Utilize school-wide data to design, implement, and evaluate targeted interventions that close achievement and opportunity gaps.
Maintain accurate student records, assessments, and required documentation
Promote digital citizenship and safe online practices to foster a secure virtual learning environment
Participate in professional development and stay updated related to NC School Counseling standards, content, and trends
Support the overall NCCA-HS comprehensive counseling program and school by serving and supporting the high school program with regard to field trips, parent-teacher conferences, in-office meetings, special events, etc.
Be an active member and contributor of the HS Student Services weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC)

Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree (minimum)
Licensure:
North Carolina School Counselor professional license (endorsed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction)
Experience:
3+ years of counseling experience (Preferred)
Excellent communication, student services management, and problem-solving skills.
Experience counseling in a virtual or remote setting (Preferred)
Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas (Preferred)
MUST be a North Carolina resident to be considered for hire, must maintain North Carolina residency while employed by NCCA, must maintain professional license issued by NCDPI while employed by NCCA
Work Location:
Hybrid / Remote approximately 90-95% per month. School Office located in Durham, NC 27713

Monday to Friday
8-hours per day, 40-hours per week
This position is for 11-months per year, our counselors typically have mid June to mid July off
