Exempt 10-month employee Position Purpose The School Counselor supports the academic, social-emotional, and personal growth of all students by providing direct counseling, proactive SEL support, and guidance programming aligned with Knox's mission: Engaged Today. Transforming Tomorrow. As a member of the Wellness & Belonging Team, the Counselor helps ensure that every student feels known, supported, and prepared to navigate both challenges and opportunities. Key Duties and Responsibilities Provide individual and small-group counseling to support student emotional health, relationships, and problem-solving. Partner with teachers to embed SEL lessons and restorative practices into daily instruction and Student Strong Start. Facilitate classroom lessons that promote belonging, resilience, and career awareness. Collaborate with the school administration and SEL-Wellness Coach to design and monitor Tier 1-2 supports for student well-being. Support families with resources, referrals, and consultation related to academic and emotional needs. Maintain accurate records and confidentiality in compliance with district and state standards. Qualifications Master's Degree in School Counseling. Valid North Carolina K-12 School Counselor License. Demonstrated success supporting middle grades students' academic and emotional growth. Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Professional Expectations Model empathy, reflection, and proactive care in daily interactions.
